Cottonwood Canyon has many camping and day use options for small and large groups.
Camping is most popular from late March – Mid-June, where camping spots typically fill up on Thursday nights through the weekend.
Camping late June – Mid September is relatively quiet. Expect heavier crowds if temperatures dip below 80.
The last two weeks of September and the first week of October are generally busy with hunters, and the campground will fill up on weekends
During winter months, the campground normally has spaces available at all times.
The Lone Tree Campground offers 21 primitive campsites on a first-come first-served basis. Maximum site length is 71′. Water spigots are available throughout the campground with potable water (shut off in winter). Two vault toilets serve this area. RV’s are allowed, but will need to be completely self contained. $10/night
Our group camp at the Lone Tree Campground can accommodate up to 30 people and 7 vehicles. This site is available on a first-come first-served basis. $71/night
Walk-in campsites are offered at the Lone Tree Campground and are typically the last sites to be filled. These sites have nearby parking and shared picnic tables and fire pits. $10/night

Reservations are available for our 4 rustic cabins. These cabins feature a bedroom and sitting room with 2 bunk beds, a full sized bed, a futon and eating area. Cabins are heated and air conditioned with a nearby flush restroom and shower house, they make the perfect foul weather getaway. $43/night without pet $53/night with pet.

Our newest addition, the Experience Center is great for weddings, family reunions, birthdays and other group meetings. This picturesque building includes room to roam with 1300sq feet of indoor meeting space, large shaded patio, and lawn for activities. An indoor and outdoor sink with countertop provide a great space for serving and preparing meals. A 50cubic inch commercial fridge is available, as well as rentable BBQ’s for food preparation and storage. Included are 10 folding tables, 60 folding chairs, and power.
End the day sitting around the fire under the stars at the buildings outdoor propane fire ring, or cozy up next to the wood stove inside. This building will make any event special. Available for $75/day +$8 reservation fee. April 1st-October 15th. BBQ rental add $10/day.
School/educational groups may qualify for a waiver of fees. Call park for details.
Those looking for a smaller space will feel right at home at our picnic shelter. Located in the Day Use Area this facility offers power, water (off in the winter), a sink with food preparation area, 2 charcoal BBQ stands and seating for 30. This area is available with or without reservations, though reservations can be made year round. $50/day +$8 reservation fee.
Day Use Area
Our most popular wedding spot is now available for reservations. The Day Use Area is known for its country feel. The historic barn, adjoining windmill and warm summer days make for the perfect place to say “I do.” $50/day +$8 reservation fee.
Back-county camping is welcomed at no charge. Campers may park overnight in designated parking areas, parking is usually available at your desired trailhead. Backpackers must be outside of developed areas. These areas are generally 1 mile from any development and are designated by reaching signs marked on trails “hunting permitted beyond this point.”
Please note that water is NOT available in the back-country. Plan to bring plenty of water and food. Be kind to nature and pack out your trash/toilet waste.
No cell service is available at Cottonwood Canyon. Be sure to have a plan, let other know your plan, and know before you go.
